ASD CHAPTER

Children suffering with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have high probability of comorbidity with other deficiency. Diagnosis of ASD in a child may be challenging before the age of three. Yet, early diagnosis and intervention is important as the optimum period for such early intervention narrows with age. The better you understand the nature of ASD children, the greater your chances are of helping them survive both academically and socially.

Child In Speech Therapy

ASD is a term that is used to describe as pervasive developmental disorders which more common with early childhood onset. Children with ASD manifest impairments in social communication, circumscribed interests, and stereotyped behaviours. Parents of ASD children may observe their children facing difficulties with using language to communicate effectively. This means, for example, children with ASD might be verbal, but struggle to communicate with other in meaningful ways in daily life, or they may have many ideas but find those ideas hard to make sense to what they are thinking.

ASD may looks different in each child and can be complicated to understand because people do not really know the cause. Researchers argue that there has no single known cause of ASD. Given the complexity of the symptoms, there are probably both genetic and environmental causes. While there is no cure for ASD, early intervention can make a big difference in the lives of most ASD children.
